Team Liquid PH Claims No. 1 Spot After Week 3 of MPL PH Season 18

Team Liquid PH took over the top spot in the MPL Philippines Season 18 standings after sweeping TNC Pro Team and Twisted Minds in Week 3 at Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City, while previously unbeaten ONIC PH suffered a reverse-sweep loss to Team Falcons PH.

Coming into this week, ONIC PH held the top spot before falling to the “Streak Breakers” Team Falcons PH in a dramatic 2-1 reverse sweep. The result opened the door for the Cavalry to move into first place at 5-1, tied with ONIC PH in match record but ahead in game wins.

The week also saw KarlTzy make MPL PH history as the first player to reach the 2,500-kill milestone.

Cavalry Hunts the Phoenix

Team Liquid quickly dismantled TNC Pro Team to extend its winning streak to four matches in Saturday’s triple-header.

In Game 1, TNC tried to pick off Teddy’s Clint during the four-minute bottom-lane clash, setting up the play with Zehn’s Badang using Flicker-Fist Break-Fist Crack combo. However, the attempt backfired when Cavalry’s backup arrived and took down Jowm’s Claude.

Team Liquid forced its way into TNC’s base during the 16-minute siege, using a 5-vs-3 numbers advantage despite Zehn landing Fist Break to stun two members of the Cavalry.

Jaypee’s Atlas was a steady presence in the frontline and posted a 2-2-20 KDA and a 92% kill participation. 

TNC refused to back down in Game 2, taking control early behind Zehn’s Gatotkaca triple kill in a 2-minute mid-lane clash before building a 9-1 kill lead.

But Team Liquid began turning the tide after Sanji’s Valentina executed a perfectly timed copied Fatal Links-Flicker combo, catching three TNC players at the 5-minute mid lane clash.

TNC once again regained momentum later on but the moment of truth arrived after KarlTzy’s Nolan secured the 21-minute Lord objective and Teddy’s Melissa came up with a double kill for a favorable 2-for-4 trade.  

With only Zaida’s Hirara left to defend, Teddy locked onto the tower to seal the sweep, finishing with a perfect 4-0-8 KDA.

No Mind Games

Team Liquid PH closed Week 3 of MPL PH Season 18 with a 5-1 record after sweeping Twisted Minds on Sunday.

Game 1 saw Twisted Minds and Team Liquid go blow for blow early on, with Sanford’s Atlas tipping the scales at the six-minute mark through a Flicker-Fatal Links combo that led to a favorable 3-for-none trade.

Sanford once again started the teamfight with Fatal Links at 10:31 in the mid lane, but the initiation backfired as Kayn’s Hirara rampaged through the opposition to claim the season’s first Savage and give Twisted Minds some much-needed breathing room.

Twisted Minds put up a valiant defense in an attempt to mount a comeback, but Team Liquid eventually wiped out the squad in the 17-minute Lord fight behind KarlTzy’s double kill on Suyou.

Sanford’s Atlas earned the MVP with a 1-4-14 KDA performance. 

Team Liquid PH faces its toughest test yet next week when it takes on ONIC PH in Saturday’s Star Match, with the first half of the regular season coming to a close.
