UAAP stadium to be built by collegiate league

The UAAP is set to build a stadium that will serve as a competitive household for the league’s athletic tournaments in partnership with Akari, they announced on Tuesday, August 20.

The stadium will be located near Opus Mall in Bridgetown along Amang Rodrigue Avenue, Pasig City. Construction is set to begin at the latter part of the year 2025 and the goal is to have the 6,000-seating capacity location ready in time for UAAP Season 90, which will be hosted by National University.

The signing of the memorandum of agreement took place at the Atencio-Libunao Hall in University of the Philippines Diliman.

“We are incredibly thankful to Akari for this generous partnership. After years of dreaming and planning, the UAAP finally has a place to call home. This facility will not only host competitions but will also stand as a testament to the spirit of unity and excellence that the UAAP represents,” said UAAP Season 87 Chairman and UP President Atty. Angelo “Jijil” Jimenez.

The design will be led by principal architect Albert Yu of ASYA Design Partner. There will be three phases to the project. The stadium’s total space is 1.8 hectares and a total of 18,000 square meters. The specific name for this stadium is to be determined.

According to the main design team, the goal is to align with what is best fro Mother Earth. Solar panels will be utilized while rain will be harvested for toilets. The team desires to save energy and reduce carbon footprint.

The venue will also be available for other sports leagues to use.
