UE, UP Make Statement in 2026 UAAP Esports VALORANT Opener

University of the East (UE) and University of the Philippines (UP) opened the 2026 UAAP VALORANT Tournament with commanding 2-0 sweeps in their respective Group Stage matches on Sunday at MVP Studios in Mandaluyong City.

The Red Warriors opened their Group A campaign with a clean sweep of two-time bronze medalist Ateneo de Manila University.

UE wasted no time asserting control, cruising to a 13-7 Game 1 win behind Hannz Nickson Balajadia’s 13 kills and eight assists before completing the sweep with a 13-5 Game 2 victory powered by John Gabriel Sunga’s 24 kills and one assist.

UE leads Group A with three points, while University of Santo Tomas (UST) and Adamson University (AdU) are tied for second with one point apiece.

In Group B, UP made a statement with a 2-0 sweep of Far Eastern University (FEU).

UP dominated Game 1, 13-3, before pulling away from an 8-all deadlock in Game 2 to complete the sweep.

UP claimed the top spot in Group B with three points on the opening day, while NU and La Salle are tied for second at one point each.
