UST foreign student-athlete Mo Tounkara will be suspended for his team’s next game and is now disqualified from winning awards this UAAP men’s basketball season after attaining two technical fouls in his team’s wire-to-wire defeat against La Salle on Wednesday at the MOA Arena.
Tounkara received two separate technical fouls during the game for taunting – first after scoring against Henry Agunanne in the first quarter then after getting a defensive stop against Mike Phillips in the final frame. The latter was his fifth foul of the contest as well.
UAAP lead statistician Pong Ducanes confirmed to ALL-STAR Magazine that Tounkara is no longer eligible to win an award – he is currently in the top 10 for statistical points – and will miss his team’s game on Saturday against Ateneo at UST’s home floor.
A team source from UST said they plan to appeal the second technical foul assessed to Tounkara to the league’s Commissioner’s Office.
