adidas Unveils New Official Jerseys for Gilas Pilipinas

On July 10, adidas Philippines and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) officially launched the new Gilas Pilipinas uniforms in a special event that also served as the send-off for the national teams competing in the upcoming 2025 FIBA Women’s and Men’s Asia Cups.

This milestone comes as part of a multi-year partnership announced earlier in May, with adidas stepping in as the official outfitter for all Gilas Pilipinas teams — from Men’s and Women’s squads to Youth, 3×3, 5×5, and eFIBA. The move marks a new era, bringing adidas’ global expertise in high-performance sportswear to support the country’s basketball programs on and off the court.

Performance Meets National Pride

The new jerseys are built for elite competition with adidas’ signature AEROREADY technology, engineered to wick moisture away and keep players dry and focused during high-stakes games. Crafted from a lightweight double-knit fabric with a hydrophilic finish, the kits offer breathability and comfort tailored to the demands of international play. adidas also emphasizes sustainability, incorporating recycled materials into the design.

Visually, the jerseys carry strong Filipino symbolism. The home kit sports a bold royal blue base highlighted by adidas’ iconic three red stripes down the sides — a nod to both national pride and adidas’ legacy. The away jersey features a clean white look with matching red stripes. Both versions are unified by a golden sun detail at the neckline, representing the strength and spirit of the Philippines. Prominently displayed across the chest is “PILIPINAS” in a bold, modern font that embodies the heart of Filipino basketball.

Player Perspective

Gilas Pilipinas star Dwight Ramos shared his thoughts on the new adidas jerseys: “The adidas jersey, I’ve seen before. It feels similar to the all-star game in the B. League — they were adidas. As long as it says ‘Pilipinas’ on the front, we’re good. Back to the OG colors, so that’s nice. Of course, the three stripes on the side. It’s super adidas. Excited to try it out.”

On whether the jersey affects play, Ramos noted, “It depends. Sometimes you don’t want it to be super stitched on there because it hurts when you move it around.”

A Unified Send-Off and Limited Release

The jersey launch also marked the final media appearance for both the Men’s and Women’s Gilas Pilipinas teams before they head out to their tournaments — the Women’s Asia Cup in Shenzhen, China, and the Men’s Asia Cup in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

adidas Philippines Country Manager Dave Sexton emphasized the partnership’s spirit: “Every athlete needs at least one believer to spark their journey. That’s the story of Gilas Pilipinas — fueled by passion and community.”

SBP President Al Panlilio added, “adidas has long championed athletes from the grassroots to the global stage. We’re honored to have them as part of the Gilas Pilipinas journey.”

Fans can get their hands on the first wave of official jerseys starting July 26, just in time for the Men’s exhibition game against the Macau Black Bears on July 28 at Smart Araneta Coliseum. The initial release will be available at adidas Brand Center Glorietta in Makati and adidas Home of Sport TriNoma in Quezon City, with a nationwide rollout planned for September. Each purchase includes a Limited-Edition Gilas Fan Pack, and fans may personalize their jerseys in-store for an additional fee. Proceeds will support SBP’s programs to nurture future basketball talent.
