Gab Gomez and Ethan Galang Enter 2025 PBA Draft Pool
Two familiar names from the collegiate basketball scene are officially taking their next step. Gab Gomez, formerly of Ateneo de Manila University, and Ethan Galang, who last suited up for the University of the East, have both confirmed their entry into the 2025 PBA Rookie Draft.
Gomez, a sharpshooter known for his outside touch, spent three seasons with the Ateneo Blue Eagles. Though his final year saw limited playing time, he remained a respected presence on the team, contributing in key moments during earlier campaigns, particularly during UAAP Season 85. He announced his departure from Ateneo in early 2024, thanking the program and its supporters for the opportunity. Since then, Gomez has been exploring opportunities in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and recently made himself available for PBA selection.
Galang, meanwhile, made his mark at UE as a floor spreader and willing outside shooter. Following the end of his collegiate run, he spoke about improving his all-around game and targeting professional play. He has since seen action for Mindoro in the MPBL.
Their applications to the 2025 draft reflect the continuing pipeline from UAAP to the professional ranks. Both players bring distinct skills — perimeter shooting — that, if they can provide consistently, could make them intriguing additions to any PBA roster.
As the draft approaches, teams will evaluate not only raw stats but how these players can fit into evolving lineups and systems. Whether Gomez and Galang land roster spots right away or take time to develop further in semi-pro leagues, their decision to enter the draft signals ambition and readiness to compete at the next level.
