LOOK: HOK and PUBG Mobile Join Forces for Cebu Earthquake Victims
When tragedy struck Cebu on September 30—a 6.9 magnitude earthquake that left communities shaken—two of Tencent’s biggest gaming titles turned their battlegrounds into platforms for compassion. Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile mobilized their respective fanbases, streamers, and esports personalities in back-to-back charity events that channeled virtual energy into real-world relief.
From October 3 to 5, PUBG Mobile Philippines hosted #NinongPUBGMCares – Stream For a Cause, rallying twelve streamers and their audiences to donate in-kind goods for affected families. “We’re very grateful to the PUBGM community for making the stream for a cause a success,” the PUBGM Philippines team said in a statement. “Thank you to all our inaanaks who donated their time and resources. Your support helped ensure that our kababayans in Cebu receive the aid they need.”
The following day, Honor of Kings Philippines launched its own three-day initiative—#HOKbayanihan – Stream For a Cause—featuring 17 esports figures and content creators who came together for the same purpose. The event, headlined by Dogie, Yawi, H2WO, and Renejay, also included Charess, Chano, Chippu, Mara Aquino, Butters, Sh1nboo, and Chantelle.
Their combined efforts raised substantial in-kind donations delivered to the Municipality of Medellin, one of the areas affected by the quake. Among the relief items distributed were:
- 2,000 cans of sardines
- 2,000 cans of meatloaf
- 2,000 packs of instant noodles
- 1,000 five-liter water bottles
- 80 sacks of 25kg rice
Together, Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile demonstrated how gaming communities can transcend screens and servers—proving that in times of disaster, heroes don’t only rise in-game.
