Former UE Red Warrior Wello Lingolingo Transfers to CSB
Wello Lingolingo, one of the most recognizable guards to come out of the University of the East in recent UAAP seasons, is transferring to the College of Saint Benilde and will join the CSB Blazers program, sources told ALL-STAR Magazine.
Lingolingo is expected to undergo residency in 2026 and will have two years of playing eligibility beginning NCAA Season 103, giving the Blazers a backcourt piece with high-level experience from one of the country’s top collegiate leagues.
The 6-foot-1 guard built his reputation as a scorer and shot creator during his time with the UE Red Warriors. Last UAAP season, Lingolingo averaged 14.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 34 percent from the field, often carrying a significant offensive load for UE’s perimeter attack. His ability to create his own shot and take on difficult scoring assignments made him one of the focal points of the Red Warriors’ offense.
Lingolingo rose to national attention during his UAAP tenure with a series of impressive shotmaking moments that highlighted his confidence as a perimeter scorer. He was initially recruited by former UE head coach Jack Santiago then played one season under Chris Gavina. One of his most memorable sequences came when he delivered a game-winning jumper against Adamson, a play that quickly circulated across Philippine basketball circles and built his reputation as a player unafraid of big moments.
His time with UE also included adversity. Lingolingo was involved in a high-profile on-court incident during the UAAP season that led to a three-game suspension after an unsportsmanlike foul against De La Salle guard Kean Baclaan. Lingolingo later addressed the situation publicly and issued an apology, and he eventually returned to the Red Warriors’ lineup later in Season 88.
Now, Lingolingo begins the next chapter of his collegiate career with the CSB Blazers, a program that has steadily strengthened its roster in recent NCAA seasons as it continues to push toward title contention. The addition of a guard with Lingolingo’s scoring pedigree gives the Blazers another experienced option in the backcourt once he becomes eligible.
