ONIC PH Completes Perfect MPL PH Season 18 Week 1 Run

ONIC Philippines took control of MPL Philippines Season 18 Week 1, sitting atop the standings with an unblemished 2-0 record at Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City.

The Super Family edged out Team Falcons PH for first place by a slim margin in game points, with ONIC recording back-to-back sweeps while Falcons dropped just one game against defending champion Team Liquid PH in a best-of-three series.

Czedrick “SuperYoshi” Romero stepped up in a big way, making an immediate impact as he filled in for former starting roamer Borris “Brusko” Parro, who moved to the sixth-man role this season.

Target Locked: M7 Champions
ONIC Philippines kicked off its MPL PH Season 18 campaign in dominant fashion, sweeping M7 World Champion Aurora Gaming PH, 2-0, with the two games lasting under 30 minutes combined.

Game 1 saw the Super Family overpowered with a stellar 6-0 kill score on board throughout the 14-minute and seven-second affair.

Kirk “Kirk” Gutierrez’s Barats became a punching bag on ONIC’s frontlines, absorbing damage while zoning out Aurora Gaming.

His performance earned him the Game 1 MVP honors after finishing with a flawless 2-0-4 KDA.

In Game 2, Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez brought out an Aurora pick in the mid lane, pairing seamlessly with Super Yoshi’s Kaja to create a potent crowd-control combination.

ONIC started to pull away after taking the four-minute Turtle, thanks to a perfectly timed Frigid Glacier-Divine Judgment combo from Super Frince and Super Yoshi that caught three Aurora members.

Super Yoshi delivered a stellar performance to lead the Super Family to a decisive sweep with an impressive 4-0-9 KDA.

Who’s the Brighter Yellow?
ONIC PH capped off Week 1 in style with another sweep against AP.Bren. 

In Game 1, AP.Bren looked poised to take control with a 6-3 kill score and a 2,000 gold lead over ONIC past the 11-minute mark.

However, the tide turned during the 12-minute clash when ONIC PH found an opening in the mid lane, allowing Super Yoshi to execute a Conceal-Divine Judgement play that picked off Jhon “JM” Sebastian’s Esmeralda.

As AP.Bren’s formation crumbled one by one, Savero’s Brody secured a double kill during ONIC PH’s run through the top-lane jungle.

King “K1NGKONG” Perez’s Hirara unleashed a game-winning triple kill after AP.Bren failed to contest the 14-minute Lord, earning him MVP honors with a 5-2-8 KDA and 100% kill participation.

Game 2 saw James “JamesPangks” Mendoza rely on his signature Suyou pick, but it proved insufficient to stop ONIC PH’s stomp despite stealing the 13-minute Lord objective. 

Clayton “Savero” Kuswanto’s Beatrix picked up a double kill as ONIC eventually secured a wipeout against AP.Bren in the mid lane.

AP.Bren put up a valiant fight in hopes of turning the game around, but the moment of truth came when Super Yoshi’s Kaja caught Carl “Shizou” Valdez’s Melissa and Lance “LanceCy” Cunanan’s Rafaela at the 23-minute mark.

A double kill from K1NGKONG’s Hirara paved the way for ONIC PH to wipe out AP.Bren and seal the victory.

ONIC PH will look to extend its undefeated run next week when it faces Twisted Minds on Friday (August 28) and Smart Omega on Sunday (August 30).
