Cabs Cabonilas Joins FEU Tamaraws for UAAP Collegiate Run

Far Eastern University has secured a major addition for its UAAP men’s basketball program, with high school star Wilhalm Lawrence “Cabs” Cabonilas set to join the FEU Tamaraws in the collegiate division, according to a source.

Cabonilas is expected to have five years of eligibility beginning in UAAP Season 89, giving FEU another young piece to build around as the program looks to strengthen its roster for the coming years.

The 6-foot-4 forward is coming off a standout run with FEU-Diliman in the UAAP boys’ division, where he helped lead the Baby Tamaraws to the Season 88 championship. He also made history as the first player in UAAP boys’ basketball to win both the regular-season MVP and Finals MVP awards in the same season.

Cabonilas was one of the most productive players in the tournament, averaging 15.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.5 blocks in the eliminations. He later scored a career-high 35 points in the title-clinching win over Nazareth School of National University, displaying clutch tendencies.

Before his latest UAAP success, Cabonilas also represented the Philippines in the FIBA U18 Asia Cup and was already regarded as one of the country’s top young prospects. His move gives FEU a familiar talent from its own pipeline and adds more promise to the Tamaraws’ future in the collegiate division.
