Ladi Joins Caloocan in MPBL, Reunites With Familiar Faces

After a high-profile stint in the UAAP, Kymani Ladi has confirmed that he is joining the Caloocan Batang Kankaloo in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, marking his official transition to the professional ranks.

The move not only signals a fresh chapter for the Fil-Am wing, but also sets up a pair of compelling reunions.

In Caloocan, Ladi will once again share the floor with Dom Escobar, his close friend and former teammate. The two previously developed chemistry during their time together in college, building a connection both on and off the court. Their reunion gives Caloocan an instant boost in familiarity and cohesion.

Adding another intriguing layer, Ladi will also be teammates with Kean Baclaan, one of his former UAAP opponents from De La Salle University. Baclaan and Ladi faced off in intense matchups in the Asiabasket Campus Tour and UAAP. Now, instead of guarding each other, they will combine forces in pursuit of an MPBL title.

“Honestly, Both Kean and Dom are exciting players to watch. I think with me as an addition we can create something good. Not to mention, Dom was my former teammate at Ateneo, so it was only right to play with someone who knows my play style,” Ladi said.

Ladi first made waves in Philippine basketball when he suited up for Ateneo de Manila University. A versatile wing with size, athleticism, and scoring ability, he quickly showed why he was highly regarded coming into the league. Before arriving in Manila, Ladi played at Merritt College in California, where he showcased his ability to stretch the floor and impact the game on both ends.

During his UAAP campaign, Ladi delivered several strong performances, including a breakout scoring display early in the season that cemented his reputation as one of Ateneo’s key recruits. His length, defensive activity, and confidence in transition made him a difficult matchup for opposing wings.

Now, he brings that same skill set to the MPBL.

For Caloocan, Ladi’s addition strengthens their perimeter rotation and adds a player capable of creating offense while defending multiple positions. With familiar teammates beside him and a new professional challenge ahead, the transition could be a smooth one.

More than just a roster move, Ladi’s signing reflects his continued growth and ambition. From US college ball to the bright lights of the UAAP, and now to the MPBL, his path has been deliberate and upward.

The next chapter begins in Caloocan.
