Will Renejay Return Next Season?
There’s a quiet tension that feels heavier than defeat. Renejay’s eyes, rimmed with the weight of another season gone, flicker between resilience and resignation. For nine seasons, Renejay had chased what many believed he was destined for: an MPL championship. But as Aurora exited in the Season 15 playoffs, that dream—like many before—slipped once more through his fingers.
So we asked him the question that had been lingering in every fan’s mind.
“You’ve been chasing a trophy for nine seasons and I feel the disappointment, frustration, the heartbreak. Will you return next season?”
He exhales.
“Sa ngayon hindi ko masabi pero depende talaga sa mga pangyayari ngayon,” Renejay replies, his voice steady but subdued. “Parang 50-50 pa ako sa next season sa ngayon. Hindi ko pa sure kung ano ang magiging plano ng team, at saka syempre, yung plano ko rin sa personal life ko. Hindi ko pa sure kung itutuloy ko pa o magpapahinga ako.”
(“For now, I can’t really say—it all depends on what happens,” Renejay replies, his voice steady but subdued. “I’m kind of 50-50 about next season. I’m not sure yet what the team’s plans are, and of course, I also have to think about my personal life. I’m still unsure if I’ll continue or take a break.”)

His words land like a slow-fading echo, hanging in the air longer than they should.
“Para sa akin, okay lang naman na hindi ko nakuha ang championship ngayon, siguro hindi pa rin siya para sa akin sa ngayon,” he adds, a faint smile tracing his lips—the kind people wear when they’re trying not to cry. “Siguro… parang nt (nice try) lang.”
(“For me, it’s okay that I didn’t get the championship this time—maybe it still isn’t meant for me right now,” he adds, a faint smile tracing his lips—the kind people wear when they’re trying not to cry. “Maybe… it’s just an NT. A nice try.”)
There’s a long pause. And then:
“Sa sobrang tagal ko na sa ML, parang…” he trails off.
Silence.
We wait. So does he.
Finally, Renejay speaks again—not in defiance, but in reverence for a journey he never took for granted.
“Basta ibinigay talaga namin ang best namin. Kitang kita ko naman na lahat sa team nag-effort, yung hard work nila, pero siguro talagang hindi para sa amin.”
(“We really gave it our best. I saw how everyone on the team put in the effort—their hard work was clear—but maybe it just wasn’t meant for us.”)
The smile returns. This time more fragile. His eyes glassy.
This is not the swaggering teen who lit up the league in Season 6. This is someone older, wearier—yet no less devoted to the game that shaped him.

When asked to reflect on his purpose in esports, Renejay doesn’t claim legacy or impact. Instead, he answers with the kind of humility that only comes from heartbreak.
“Siguro isa na makapag-inspire sa mga nangangarap na maging pro player,” he begins. “Saka… di ko rin masabi kung anong purpose ko. Basta ako kasi talaga, iniisip ko lang is makuha ko ang trophy talaga mula simula. Pangarap ko talaga siya. Kung may na-inspire man sa akin o wala… thankful ako na nakita nila yung journey ko.”
(“Maybe one of my purposes was to inspire those who dream of becoming a pro player,” he begins. “And… I don’t really know what my true purpose is. From the very start, all I ever thought about was winning that trophy. That’s really been my dream. Whether I inspired anyone or not… I’m just thankful that people got to witness my journey.”)
And perhaps that’s the quiet truth about Renejay. That despite all the memes, the idol status, the years of highlights—his real story was never just about a trophy. It was about showing up, again and again, when it would’ve been easier to let go.
“Para sa akin, iba na ako sa Renejay noong Season 6 and 7,” he says finally, grounding his voice with conviction. “Malayo na ako doon. Sana may na-inspire doon at sana makapasok din sila sa pro scene.”
(“For me, I’m no longer the same Renejay from Season 6 and 7,” he says finally, grounding his voice with conviction. “I’ve come a long way since then. I just hope I inspired someone—and that they get their shot at the pro scene too.”)
So… is Renejay coming back?
He’s not sure. Maybe he needs to breathe. Maybe he needs to heal. But one thing is clear: Renejay’s value was never just in what he won—but in what he endured.
Even when all he could say in the end was: “Nice try.”
