Kevin Quiambao dubs Veejay Pre a ‘once in a lifetime superstar’

Kevin Quiambao is one of the greatest standouts to ever set foot in the UAAP. A lot of other athletes look up to him, and some aspire to be like him.

In an exclusive interview with ALL-STAR, FEU Tamaraws Rookie Veejay Pre shared that KQ is his idol. So much that he looked forward to playing against the DLSU Green Archers during the start of the season.

The King Archer also had insights about the power rookie. KQ said that Pre is already a ‘superstar’ on the court despite Season 87 being his debut year.

“[The] future is bright para kay Veejay Pre. Parang ano siya eh, once in a lifetime superstar dito sa UAAP,” he said. “Knowing na rookie pa lang siya, gan’yan na pinapakita niya. What more pa in the next few seasons na lalaruin niya?”

KQ also shared that he’s honored to be dubbed as Pre’s “idol.”

“I’m blessed and honored [to be his idol]. Kasi despite na kaunti lang age gap namin, naging idol niya pa rin ako.”

The reigning UAAP MVP shared that he also idolizes Pre, especially because of the way the rookie plays on the court, which KQ think is a similarity they share.

“Pero idol ko rin naman siya, kasi kung paano siya maglaro, similar sa’kin. Kumbaga may similarities kami.”

“Hats off sakanya. Super bait [niya] on and off the court,” KQ added.

It may still be a long way to go, but KQ agreed that Pre is an MVP in the making. KQ said that through Pre’s consistent powerplays, it’s a real, big possibility.

“Sa nilalaro niya consistently, for sure, for sure,” he answered when asked about the chance of it happening. “Veejay is good. I think ‘di man ngayon, ‘di man next season. Basta i-dominate lang niya ngayon, focus siya sa system. Magaling naman talaga siya eh. Kay Veejay, deserve niya ‘to. Deserve niya kung ano ‘yung nakukuha niya ngayon.”

DLSU and FEU faced off in a tight match on Wednesday, November 6 at the Mall of Asia Arena. The Archers took home their 11th win, 58-53.
