Marcus Sisican Embraces New UST Chapter

Marcus Sisican is taking the next step in his young basketball career with a clear mindset. After making his name in the Davao high school basketball scene, the guard is now set to continue his development with UST, where he still has two years of high school ball ahead of him in Grades 11 and 12.

Sisican has been connected with Ateneo de Davao and local representative teams from the region. He has been part of a growing basketball scene in Mindanao, where young players have started to gain more attention through school tournaments, regional meets, and national youth competitions. Now, his move to UST gives him a bigger platform and a new challenge.

For the 6-foot Sisican, though, the goal is not to make noise right away. From the way he speaks, his focus is simple. He wants to work, improve, and give the program everything he has.

In an exclusive interview, the incoming UST high school standout made it clear that fans can expect a player who puts the team first. For him, the goal is not just to show what he can do individually, but to contribute in any way needed.

“UST fans can expect me to give my full effort every game, play with discipline, and always put the team first,” Sisican said. “I’ll bring energy on both ends of the court and do whatever is needed to help us win. I also want to represent the school.”

He understands that joining UST comes with responsibility, especially with two important years still ahead of him at the high school level. It is a chance for him to grow inside a championship-winning program while also proving himself in one of the country’s biggest basketball stages.

Sisican is also aware that the next step will require more from him. Like many young guards, he knows that talent has to be matched with consistency. He pointed to his shooting and decision-making as areas he wants to sharpen, especially in pressure situations.

“I want to improve my overall consistency, especially in my shooting and decision-making under pressure,” he said.

For Sisican, playing in the UAAP is more than just another basketball opportunity. It is something he has dreamed about, and now that it is within reach, he wants to make the most of it.

“It means a lot to me because playing in the UAAP has always been a dream,” Sisican said. “It’s a big opportunity to compete at a high level and represent something bigger than myself. I’m grateful for the chance, and I’m motivated to make the most out of it.”

His background in Davao has helped bring him to this point, but UST will offer a different test. The competition will be stronger, the expectations will be higher, and the adjustment will take work. Sisican seems ready for that process.

For UST fans, Sisican brings a grounded approach. He wants to defend, compete, make the right plays, and help the team win. More than anything, he seems ready to embrace the work that comes with wearing the school’s colors.
