Meegan Hart came in clutch for the Nxled Chameleons by leading them to victory with only 24 hours between her first training session and their PVL conference debut on Tuesday, July 16.
Hart spearheaded their triumph against the Galeries Tower Highrisers by utilizing a mindset on trusting her experience from years in the sport and her motivation to bounce back when facing a deficit against an opponent.
She relied on the trust and support of her teammates and coaching staff, factors that guided her transition.
“I think always being ready, going after a play, playing my game, trusting my game but also trusting in my teammates.” the 6-foot-2 middle blocker shared her thought process.
Communication was a significant part of their chemistry. Her teammates helped her by communicating calls on the court during game action. This support helped develop a quick rapport.
“Trusting my teammates, they were super supportive, helping me out in the practice and [in] the game. I think just really trusting in them.”
The play sequences in Philippine volleyball are a lot faster than what the Colorado and Iowa State alumni is used to, but she adjusted just fine.
“The game’s a bit [scrappier],” Hart explained. “The plays are a little bit longer. I’m still adjusting to the length, but overall, it’s a fast transition, and I was welcomed with open arms.”
Hart recorded 19 points consisting of 12 attacks and 7 blocks in her PVL Debut.
With more time to build chemistry on and off the court with the Chameleons coming up, Hart’s stint in the PVL will be interesting to monitor.
