Farm Fresh has been home to numerous talented players from Adamson University, including standout opposite spiker Trisha Tubu.

Currently ranked as the 4th-best scorer and 2nd-best spiker for the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference, Tubu shared with ALL-STAR how she transitioned from playing volleyball as a hobby to becoming a professional athlete. She recounted that her journey with the sport began during high school.

“Before po kasi, hobby ko lang siya. Pastime, gano’n. Hanggang sa nagustuhan ko mag-try-out [nung] high school, kaso hindi ako nakuha,” Tubu shared, reflecting on her first tryout in 7th grade.

However, the rejection didn’t dampen her determination. Instead, it fueled her drive to work harder and achieve her goal. The following year, she successfully joined the volleyball team of BS Aquino National High School.

“So, parang na-frustrate ako noon. Sabi ko, hindi pwede ‘yung gano’n. Gusto ko makapasok sa [team]. So, work talaga. Hanggang sa second tryout, nakapasok ako,” she said.

After completing junior high school, Trisha Tubu transferred to Adamson University, where she played for two years in senior high school. Then the pandemic struck.

“Nung 3rd year na ako, sakto wala nang pandemic, so Season 85,” she recalled. “Then, umalis na ako. Nung nag-fourth year na ako sa Farm Fresh na.”

Tubu ended her collegiate career and turned professional to help her ailing father. In a 2023 interview with Inquirer.net, she expressed her desire to give back to her father, recognizing the significant sacrifices he had made for her.

Her father had undergone multiple surgeries and strokes, necessitating a pacemaker and other expensive treatments at the time. Today, Trisha is happy to share that her father has significantly recovered.

“Okay na po siya ngayon, nakapag-recover na siya, naglalakad na. Normal na. Hindi pa 100% pero 80% na siguro,” she said.

Trisha Tubu also highlighted her family’s unwavering support, particularly from her father. “Yes, [sobrang supportive po nila]. Isa sa mga reason kung bakit ako nagtuloy sa paglalaro is dahil ‘yung family ko, lalong-lalo na ‘yung father ko, gustong-gusto nila ako napapanood.”

She added, “Iyon na rin ‘yung naging therapy niya, mapanood ako. Kapag masaya kasi siya, okay siya. Para sa kanya rin ‘yung nilalaro ko.”

While leaving Adamson was a tough decision, Tubu saw it as a necessary step in her career growth. She described the transition to Farm Fresh as smooth, though facing professional-level opponents presented new challenges.

“Sobrang smooth, sobrang saya, kasi core ng Farm Fresh is Adamson. So hindi naman naging ganoon kahirap na magdesisyon agad, kasi familiarity, kami na ‘yon eh. So, hindi naman siya gano’n kahirap,” Tubu explained. “Mahirap lang kasi iba na ‘yung mga kalaban dito, mga professionals na talaga, mga national teams gano’n.”

Tubu has been remarkable throughout her professional career. She earned the Best Opposite Spiker award during the 2024 Reinforced Conference and has continued to elevate her game.

Before concluding, Trisha Tubu expressed her gratitude to her supporters. “Thank you so much kasi hanggang ngayon nakasuporta sila, from zero until now. Sana ‘yung support nila is all throughout. Thank you so much sa lahat ng mga tumulong sa’kin.”
