Janrey Pasaol, Nic Cabañero Sign adidas Extensions
Reigning UAAP MVP Janrey Passos and former UST standout Nic Cabañero have signed extensions with Adidas, the brand’s Philippines sports marketing consultant Diego Dario has confirmed.
The agreements retain two Filipino players whose careers have grown considerably since their early association with The Three Stripes.
Contract lengths and financial terms were not disclosed, but it’s believed to be multi-year deals.
For Pasaol, the extension follows a breakthrough at FEU, which is currently the leader of UAAP Season 89 men’s basketball. For Cabañero, it carries an established partnership into a professional career already marked by a record-setting MPBL performance and national-team appearances.
Dario pointed to a quality they share: loyalty.
“Janrey’s development both as an athlete and as a human being has been incredible. Him winning the MVP, being a leader for this tough FEU squad is a testament to the work he has put in. Very much aligned with the brand and he will definitely be rewarded with the loyalty that he shows for the three stripes.”
After helping FEU-Diliman win the UAAP Season 85 boys’ basketball championship (high school) in 2023, he committed to the Tamaraws’ senior team.

By Season 88, he had developed into the UAAP men’s MVP, averaging 15.4 points, a league-leading 7.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.1 steals a contest, becoming FEU’s first winner of the award since Terrence Romeo in 2013.
FEU finished that season 7-7 and missed the Final Four. This year’s team has made a stronger start, recently punctuated by a 93-70 victory over Ateneo on October 10 which gave the Tamaraws four consecutive wins and a 4-1 record.
Cabañero’s adidas history stretches back to his early UST years, such as when he joined the brand’s anniversary activities, assisting shoppers and participating in a live Q&A on adidas Philippines’ Instagram.
“Resigning Nic was a no brainer. He’s been loyal to the brand even before he made a name for himself in PH basketball. A UST legend, Gilas 3×3 mainstay, and a true professional. We’re excited to continue to support him as he steps on to the next level of his basketball career,” Dario said
Cabañero stayed with UST through difficult seasons before helping the Growling Tigers reach consecutive Final Fours in 2024 and 2025. His collegiate farewell was a 24-point effort in an 82-81 semifinal loss to UP, while he finished his final season with another selection to the league’s Mythical Team.

Cabañero, like Pasaol, has worn a lot of the Harden Vol. 9.
He has since taken his career to Biñan Tatak Gel in the MPBL. On September 10, Cabañero delivered 53 points, 22 rebounds, and 10 assists in a 121-79 victory over Pasig, setting the league’s single-game scoring record.
Later that month, he represented the Philippines in men’s 3×3 basketball at the Asian Games in Japan.
The extensions give adidas continuity with both standouts as their basketball ambitions grow.
