Daily Fantasy Week 22: The Rookie Race is ON!
The NBA Rookie of the Year race is starting to get intense. There are a lot of promising players trying to establish their position as the best rookie in the class of 2025. Who is taking home the Wilt Chamberlain trophy?
Match 1: The Philadelphia 76ers vs the Denver Nuggets (March 18)
VJ Edgecombe is sure to get quality minutes and touches this game as Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey are probably both out. Philly is still Embiid’s and Maxey’s team, but the two have been encouraging Edgecombe to find his role within the team. In the rookie ladder, Edgecombe sits at number three.
Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:
Captain: Nikola Jokic
Vice Captain: VJ Edgecombe
Key picks: Quentin Grimes, Cameron Johnson, Aaron Gordon, Justin Edwards, Tim Hardaway, Jr.
Match 2: The Orlando Magic vs the Charlotte Hornets (March 20)
Kon Knueppel still sits at the top of the Rookie Ladder. If the playoffs started now, the Charlotte Hornets would qualify for the play-in. They are having a strong second half of the season, thanks to LaMelo Ball and rookie sensation Kon Knueppel. In terms of impact as seen in the team’s win column, Knueppel is a shoo-in for the rookie of the year award. The Hornets are shaping up to be a dynamic team, and it is interesting to see how far they could go this year.
Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:
Captain: LaMelo Ball
Vice Captain: Paolo Banchero
Key picks: Kon Knueppel, Brandon Miller, Desmond Bane, Miles Bridges, Wendell Carter Jr.
Match 3: The LA Clippers vs the Dallas Mavericks (March 22)
If Cooper Flagg keeps this MVP-ish hot streak until the final weeks of the regular season, he could snatch the Wilt Chamberlain trophy from Kon Knueppel. He has been slowly reintroducing himself to the race, and he has the advantage of being the number one scoring option in a bad Dallas Mavericks team. Flagg’s team resembles rookie LeBron’s Cavaliers team–a team where he can make an immediate impact. The Mavs, like those Cavs of 03, will probably miss this year’s playoffs.
Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:
Captain: Kawhi Leonard
Vice Captain: Cooper Flagg
Key picks: Darius Garland, Benedict Mathurin, Naji Marshall, Dwight Powell
Match 4: The Indiana Pacers vs the San Antonio Spurs (March 22)
Dylan Harper has been a good part of the San Antonio rotation thus far. He is currently injured, but he definitely deserves a spot in your Daily Fantasy line-up. He’s currently number four in the rookie ladder, and given the talent and depth of this Spurs team, Dylan Harper is not likely to get any more minutes in the rotation, as compared to what Flagg and Edgecombe have been getting. This San Antonio team is going to face a tanking Pacers team–it’s going to be ugly for Indiana fans.
Suggested Daily Fantasy lineup:
Captain: Victor Wembanyama
Vice Captain: Aaron Nesmith
Key picks: De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, Keldon Johnson, Luke Kornet, Ivica Zubac
