UE’s John Abate Joins Reebok
Following a stellar UAAP 87 season, the University of the East’s (UE) John Abate has joined Reebok. The fourth-year veteran took the news to Instagram, resharing _agentbrody007_’s (Phenom01 Sports Management) story of his acquisition as one of the English-founded brand’s local poster children.
Abate and the highly touted Red Warrior roster managed a fifth-place finish in the previous year, just short of a post season berth. He made several appearances in Serious Players Only’s Player1 Plus before pledging his allegiance to Rebook.

As a sought-after sneaker free agent, Abate shared his courtship, commending the brand for their patience throughout the process and his current favorite silhouette.
“Reebok showed me the most love out of the brands that pursued me and has been more than patient with my process of finalizing my decision. My respect for them and the brand goes beyond words,” Abate tells ALL-STAR Magazine.
“My favorite shoe right now is the Reebok Preseason 94 Low; they provide that retro style and comfort which I love,” he continued.
From its “Answer”-driven beginnings, Reebok’s basketball division eyes a hopeful resurgence in 2025. The brand complements Abate’s acquisition with the release of the Reebok Engine A—first seen on Chicago Sky forward, Angel Reese. According to Reebok, it is said to embody “everything Reebok stands for through its innovative leaps and performance enhancements that evidence their dedication to the game.”
