In their match against the UST Growling Tigers on October 16, Wednesday, DLSU Green Archers wingman Earl Abadam sprained his ankle.
He was seen being pushed in a wheelchair by teammate EJ Gollena out of their locker room after the contest as he was in pain.
In an exclusive interview with ALL-STAR, DLSU Assistant Coach Caloy Garcia confirmed that Abadam’s injury will require him to be out for the game against Adamson at UST on Saturday.
“He’ll be out [because] he sprained his ankle last game. He’ll be evaluated, I think, early next week,” Coach Caloy said.
He added:
“I think it’s still possible pa [that he’ll play in the season], but like I said, he’s still going to get re-evaluated next week, so hopefully. We’ll see.”
It’s still unknown whether he’d be able to play for the rest of the season.
Abadam has been a key in DLSU’s great standing as they currently lead the league with an 8-1 record. Him being out of the season, if it materializes, would mean some players will have to step up.
“This means that we’ll have to fill in his shoes. I think opportunities for others playing today, and they just have to move on from this injury and the next man up,” Garcia said.
