Alex Eala’s Admirable Miami Open Run Comes to an End

The impressive stint of 19-year-old tennis sensation Alex Eala in the 2025 Miami Open came to a heartbreaking end when she was defeated in the semifinals by veteran Jessica Pegula following three hard-fought, sensational set, 7-6, 5-7, 6-3.

Eala, who entered the tournament ranked 140 in the world, upset superior opponents on her way to the semis and came close to securing another victory over the number 4-ranked Pegula, but ran out of steam late.

Despite falling short of the finals, Eala is poised to earn $332,169 (a little above 19 million in pesos) due to her accomplishment.
