Aurora Gets Sweet Revenge Over ONIC With Reverse Sweep

Aurora Gaming PH stunned rival ONIC Philippines with a thrilling 2-1 reverse sweep during the MPL Philippines Season 18 Week 7 Saturday triple-header at Victoria Sports Tower.

When ONIC and Aurora first met during the opening week, it was the Super Family that emerged victorious. This time, however, the M7 champions were determined to rewrite the result and claim their long-overdue revenge.

Revenge could not have been sweeter for Aurora, which also stalled ONIC’s rise to No. 2 and its quest for a coveted upper-bracket advantage.

ONIC PH pressured Koyl’s Harley in the opening two minutes of Game 1, with K1NGKONG’s Fanny stealing his red buff and Kirk’s Carmilla disrupting his purple buff farming. However, the gold gap remained nearly even until Domeng’s Obsidia secured a double kill during the seven-minute mid-lane clash.

Aurora kept grouping up to neutralize K1NGKONG’s Fanny pick-off threat, allowing the M7 champions to surge to a 6-1 lead over ONIC PH.

After failing to secure the 10-minute Lord, ONIC PH turned the fight around in the top lane as Brusko’s Gatotkaca used Avatar of the Guardian to catch Domeng’s Obsidia, allowing ONIC PH to secure a favorable 4-for-none trade.

ONIC PH pulled off a diversion tactic during the 14-minute Lord fight, sending K1NGKONG’s Fanny to push the top lane before stealing a purple buff. With K1NGKONG away from the team fight, Kirk’s Carmilla stepped up with a double kill to help ONIC PH secure the Lord.

Aurora prolonged Game 1 after securing the 24-minute Lord, but ONIC PH answered with a 3-for-none trade and forced its way through to take the opening game.

K1NGKONG’s Fanny led ONIC PH to a 1-0 series lead with a perfect 6-0-3 KDA.

In Game 2, Aurora Gaming seized control after securing all three Turtle objectives, widening its lead over ONIC as Koyl’s Fanny scored a double kill during an eight-minute mid-lane clash set up by Nathzz’s Gatotkaca and his Avatar of the Guardian dive.

The Northern Light sealed the deal as Domeng’s Obsidia pulled off a double kill during the 10-minute base siege to help Aurora eliminate four ONIC members.

Domeng’s Obsidia proved valuable with an impressive 6-1-3 KDA performance to help Aurora tie the series at 1-1.

ONIC went for a double-fighter setup to take early advantage over Aurora in Game 3 and proved effective as Savero’s Aulus secured a double kill during the six-minute Turtle fight after Brusko’s Marcel used Golden Hour.

The Super Family looked poised to close out Game 3 with ease, but their lead slipped away after Koyl’s Nolan secured a double kill during the 12-minute Lord fight, allowing Aurora to take the objective and turn the momentum around.

ONIC initiated a teamfight in the bottom lane at the 15-minute mark, but the move backfired as SuperFrince’s Valentina and K1NGKONG’s Hayabusa fell.

With a 5-vs-3 advantage, Aurora completed the reverse sweep against ONIC PH, with Domeng’s Obsidia once again earning MVP honors after posting a flawless 4-0-5 KDA and 100% kill participation.
