Humility, Respect, Family: Coach Ynot on What Drives ONIC PH

When ONIC Philippines swept Twisted Minds 2-0 on October 4, the victory did more than book them a ticket to the MPL Philippines Season 16 playoffs. Coach Ynot revealed the mindset behind the team’s steady rise this season: One that balances confidence with humility.

“We’re getting there in terms of how we play,” said head coach Tony “Ynot” Senedrin when asked if ONIC would experiment with picks and lanes now that their playoff slot was secured. “I think it’s more about gaining confidence going toward the playoffs.”

The response was surprising coming from a team that has consistently been at the top of the standings. But for Ynot, confidence is not a given, even for a squad as polished as ONIC.

“It’s not just this season, it’s also about what’s happening right now,” he explained. “It goes to show something I’ve always told the players: first of all, humility. Second is respect, not just for our opponents but also for ourselves. And trying to gain the foothold na tuwing may nangyayari, we’re a family.”

In Ynot’s words, humility is a structure that holds the team together when the pressure rises. “That’s a part of it,” he said when asked if humility was the key to victory.

With the playoffs approaching, ONIC’s form may be measured by drafts, mechanics, and execution, but their coach made one thing clear: what anchors the team goes beyond strategy. It is the culture they build—one of humility, respect, and confidence, carried into every game.
