San Sebastian’s talent pool in men’s basketball just added an intriguing piece as athletic 6-foot-4 guard/forward Ashon Andrews has transferred to their program, he confirmed to ALL-STAR Magazine.

The Filipino-American talent will undergo a year of residency in 2024 then play the first of his four remaining years of NCAA eligibility in NCAA Season 101.

“I just wanted to go somewhere I will have a good opportunity to be myself and where the coaches and managers believe in me,” he said in an exclusive interview. “I’m not worried about how big or how small the school is. I just want to be able to play like myself and help the school win while having fun.”

Andrews also considered UPHSD and Mapua before ultimately deciding on San Sebastian.

The Maryland, United States native initially committed to the UP Fighting Maroons and was part of their roster that made the UAAP Finals in Season 85.

Andrews then moved to the UST Growling Tigers with the goal of earning more playing time and opportunities. He suited up for them in offseason tournaments such as Pinoyliga and Filoil, delivering some noteworthy performances where he showcased his athletic and finishing abilities in transition.

He was supposed to play this season but will now sit out another season as he prepares for his debut in the NCAA where his combination of size, speed, and height will be utilized by the Stags as they attempt to return to contention.

Off the court, Andrews is also a model.
