Gray Re-signs with Barangay Ginebra

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel has secured an intriguing piece of its roster for foreseeable future. Jeremiah Gray, the dynamic wingman known for his tenacity and hustle, has officially re-signed with the Gin Kings, his manager Anthony Brodett of Phenom Sports Management confirmed. Though the terms of the new contract remain undisclosed, the move signals Gray’s continued commitment to the team that has become his professional home.

Gray’s journey with Ginebra has been a rollercoaster of promise and perseverance. Drafted second overall by Terrafirma in the 2022 PBA Draft, he was quickly traded to Ginebra, where he made an immediate impact.

However, Gray’s career faced a major setback in July 2023, when he suffered a severe knee injury — a triple tear involving his ACL, MCL, and PCL — during a PBA On Tour game. The injury sidelined him for nearly 19 months, forcing him into a long and challenging rehabilitation process that tested his resolve.

His return in February 2025 was met with cautious optimism. Although he played limited minutes during the Commissioner’s Cup, Gray demonstrated glimpses of the energy and grit that have become his trademarks. Yet, challenges lingered; in April 2025, he experienced discomfort in his right leg during a Philippine Cup game, prompting precautionary medical checks. Thankfully, MRI results showed no new damage, and head coach Tim Cone expressed confidence that Gray would soon resume full activities.

The re-signing removes doubts about Gray’s role in Ginebra’s future plans. While trade rumors swirled in recent months, his decision to stay underscores the team’s faith in his ability to bounce back fully and contribute at a high level. With his physical recovery progressing and the team’s support manifesting through ink on paper, Gray is poised to regain his place as a key contributor.

Beyond the court, Gray’s background is a story of athletic pedigree and diverse sports influences. Born in Thousand Oaks, California, he initially pursued baseball before dedicating himself to basketball. Athleticism runs in his family, with his father a former tennis player and his uncle Johnny Gray a four-time Olympian in track and field.

As the Gin Kings prepare for the upcoming season, Jeremiah Gray’s re-signing represents both a fresh start and a testament to his resilience.
