De La Salle University’s Kevin Quiambao and Michael Phillips are leading the UAAP men’s basketball tournament’s MVP race following each team’s performance to open the second round of the eliminations.
According to local statistician Johann Medina, who shares his work on X, Quiambao currently has 83.25 statistical points which currently puts him on pace to win back-to-back MVP plums. Phillips, who had an outstanding 27 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 assists in La Salle’s recent win over UE, is second at 79 SPs.
UP Maroons leader JD Cagulangan returned from a thigh injury to help his squad defeat UST this past weekend. He is currently third in the race with 73.3 SPs. FEU’s Mo Konateh and UE’s Precious Momowei round off the rest of the top five with 69.25 and 68.5 SPs, respectively.
Although he is currently sixth at 60.75 SPs, if the UAAP season ended today, Forth Padrigao would be in the mythical five due to the league’s rule of there being only one foreign student-athlete in that list,
Here’s how the rest of the rankings looks like:
