‘M7 Will Be The Most Difficult for PH’ – Coach Tictac
As Team Liquid gears up for the M7 World Championship, Team Liquid’s Archie Reyes, aka Coach Tictac shared insights on what makes this year’s tournament unique and the lessons he’s carried through his coaching career.
When asked about the most important lesson he’s taught or learned with his players over the years, Tictac was succinct:
“Wag kang magmamadali sa mga bagay-bagay,” (“Don’t rush things.”), Coach Tictac told ALL-STAR.
But it’s not just patience that will be tested at M7. Reflecting on his experiences at international tournaments, Tictac noted a shift in the competitive landscape.
“Sa M7, and mga teams ngayon, halos lahat pantay-pantay na. Dati kasi, mayroong mga teams na dominant talaga. Ngayon, halos lahat pantay-pantay na, so ang M7 ang magiging isa sa pinakamahirap na international tournament namin.”
(“At M7, and with the teams nowadays, almost everyone is on an even playing field. Before, there were teams that were truly dominant. Now, almost everyone is equal, so M7 will be one of our toughest international tournaments.”)
The key difference, according to Tictac, is how international teams have evolved beyond raw mechanics.
“Halos nag-adapt na lahat sa meta, hindi na more on pindutan gaming (mechanics) ka lang eh. Lahat ng teams ngayon may macro strategy na, lahat may mechanics na, so pantay-pantay na lahat.”
(“Almost everyone has adapted to the meta now; it’s no longer just about being good at pressing buttons. Nowadays, every team has macro strategies and solid mechanics, so everything is pretty much even.”)
With Team Liquid gunning for the Golden Road, and teams looking at them as the giant to slay at M7 World Championship, Coach Tictac knows that every opponent will demand their full focus and strategy.
For Team Liquid, that means every match will require careful planning, disciplined execution, and trust in the strategies they’ve honed over the years.
