Over 500 Players to Compete in PH National Badminton Open
More than 500 of the country’s top badminton players are set to compete in the 2025 Philippine National Badminton Open (PNBO), happening July 7 to 12 at the Rizal Memorial Complex.
Sanctioned by the Philippine Badminton Association (PBAD), the PNBO is a PBAD Super 1000 event and serves as the premier tournament in the local badminton calendar, offering a ₱1 million prize pool and a critical opportunity for players to earn ranking points.
“This is the biggest event for the Philippine Badminton Association because it attracts the best shuttlers from all across the country,” said PBAD secretary general Carla Lizardo-Sulit in an interview on One News’ Play by Play. “If you want a shot at the national team, this is it.”

Top-performing athletes will not only vie for cash and titles but also aim to climb the rankings and potentially join the national pool — a key step as PBAD eyes Olympic qualification for Los Angeles 2028.
Last year’s champions include Jewel Albo and Mika De Guzman in the men’s and women’s singles categories. The doubles titles were claimed by Lea Inlayo and Nicole Albo in women’s, and Ariel Magnaye and Christian Bernardo in men’s. Bernardo also topped the mixed doubles with Alyssa Leonardo.
Matches will be broadcast on One Sports and One Sports+, with livestreams available on the Pilipinas LIVE app. Tickets are on sale via ticketmax.ph starting at ₱50.
