Prince Cariño Receives NCAA Division 1 Offer from Nevada
Prince Cariño has received an offer from the University of Nevada, an early milestone as the Filipino basketball prospect begins the next chapter of his basketball career in the United States.
Marvin Espiritu of Espiritu Manotoc Basketball Management confirmed the development to ALL-STAR. Espiritu, together with sports agent Tony Ronzone, is guiding Cariño’s career as the former FEU-Diliman standout prepares to play for PHH Prep in Phoenix, Arizona.
The 17-year-old recently arrived in the United States and still has two years of high school basketball ahead of him. Nevada’s offer gives him a potential pathway to NCAA Division I basketball with the Reno-based Wolf Pack, which competes in the Mountain West Conference.
For now, a major focus is expanding his game.
After frequently playing in the frontcourt in the Philippines, Cariño is being transitioned into a wing player in the United States, according to information shared by his management.
That move means developing his perimeter skills alongside the scoring and rebounding that helped establish him in Philippine youth basketball.
Cariño stands at 6-foot-7. Espiritu believes he has yet to experience his main growth spurt and could still get taller, adding another possibility to his development over the next two years.
PHH Prep provides an environment in which he can work toward that broader skill set. The program is a college preparatory academy combining academics and athletics, with a Skills Academy and college recruiting services aimed at helping players reach the collegiate level.
This opportunity builds on a career already shaped by school and national-team experience.
Cariño emerged as a leading player in FEU-Diliman’s junior high school program, earning two UAAP Elite Team selections before moving into the older boys’ division.
He opened the Season 88 U16 tournament with 30 points and eight rebounds against Ateneo, then delivered 21 points and 22 rebounds against UST to help the Baby Tamaraws reach the finals.
He was subsequently part of FEU-Diliman’s Season 88 U19 championship squad, which defeated National University Nazareth School in March 2026.
Cariño has also represented Gilas Pilipinas Youth at both the U16 and U18 levels. He averaged 11 points and 6.8 rebounds in the 2025 FIBA U16 Asia Cup, including a 23-point performance against Chinese Taipei.
At the 2026 U18 SEABA qualifiers, he averaged 15.2 points and five rebounds a contest.
His international exposure continued through FEU-Diliman’s participation in the NBA Rising Stars Invitational in Singapore and his selection to the Basketball Without Borders Next Up camp in Istanbul in August.
