More star power is joining the 2024 PBA Draft as RJ Abarrientos officially submitted his name to the league office before the deadline on Thursday, July 4, his agent Edgar Mangahas of EM Sports Management confirmed to ALL-STAR Magazine.

RJ, the nephew of PBA legend Johnny Abarrientos, played with the FEU Tamaraws in the UAAP then had stints both in Korea’s KBL and Japan B. League. Because of his combination of speed, scoring, playmaking, and other integral parts to his game, he immediately is one of the most enticing options for PBA teams to choose from during the draft on Sunday, July 14.

Abarrientos won the Rookie of the Year plum in his KBL debut with Hyundai Ulsan after averaging 14 points and 4.8 dimes a contest in the KBL. His stint in Japan with Shinshu wasn’t as successful as he adjusted to the shift in competition, but his talent is undeniable.
