Team Falcons PH Shatters ONIC’s Undefeated Run

Team Falcons PH brought an end to top-seeded ONIC Philippines’ perfect run with a dramatic 2-1 reverse sweep in MPL PH Season 18 Week 3 action last Saturday at the Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City.

The Super Family entered the highly anticipated showdown with a perfect 5-0 record, but the Falcons lived up to their “Streak Breakers” moniker, handing ONIC its first match loss of the season.

On top of everything, Falcons’ gold laner Super Marco made the Miya pick work not once, but twice, while Owgwen debuted Khufra in their rout of ONIC.

In Game 1, ONIC PH wasted no time asserting its dominance over Team Falcons, holding a 6-0 kill lead without conceding a single death until the 12:45 mark, when SuperMarco’s Obsidia scored a double kill to give Falcons a favorable 3-for-1 trade.

Kyle’s Paquito stole the 16-minute Lord objective in an attempt to turn the game around, but the play proved costly as ONIC PH retaliated. SuperYoshi’s Kaja landed a Conceal-Divine Judgment combo on Super Marco’s Obsidia, setting up Savero’s Beatrix for a game-winning Maniac.

Savero was named as the Game 1 MVP after posting a stellar 8-0-4 KDA and a perfect 100% kill participation. 

Game 2 saw Team Falcons lean towards unorthodox in edging out ONIC PH with a Khufra pick in the hands of Owgwen and Miya in hands of SuperMarco. 

Falcons started to pull away after Owgwen’s Khufra caught K1NGKONG’s Fanny with a Tyrant’s Revenge-Flicker-Tyrant’s Rage combo during a 3-minute chase in the bottom lane, setting up Kyle’s Hirara for the clean-up.

K1NGKONG attempted to divert the Falcons’ attention with a sneaky bottom-lane push at the 13-minute mark, but it was only a matter of time before Kyle’s Hira picked him off.

That gave Falcons the green light to go all-in against the outnumbered ONIC squad during the base siege, wiping them out behind Kyle’s double kill.

SuperMarco’s Miya proved crucial as he recorded a 6-1-5 KDA to tie the series at 1-1.

In Game 3, Team Falcons looked poised to seal the series after securing all the early Turtle objectives, putting ONIC on the back foot.

Despite ONIC’s valiant stand during the 13-minute siege, Falcons forced their way through after Flap’s Carmilla landed Curse of Blood, allowing Kyle’s Hirara to secure a double kill.

SuperMarco made the Miya pick work once again after posting a perfect 5-0-2 KDA. 

Team Falcons PH currently holds a 4-1 record in Week 3 of MPL PH Season 18 and will look to extend its winning streak next week against AP.Bren and M7 World Champion Aurora Gaming PH.
