MLBB Shows Humanity, Sends Small Gifts to Players Affected by Cebu Earthquake

For the first time, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has extended a gesture of sympathy toward its players in the Philippines.

On September 30, a 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck northern Cebu and triggered widespread power outages across the region. Many players also disconnected from the game to safeguard themselves and their families. As of this writing, the death toll has climbed to 69. Cebu’s Governor Pamela Baricuatro issued Executive Order No. 57 declaring the entire province under a state of calamity.

Meanwhile, MLBB expressed sympathy toward affected players in Cebu and announced it would be resetting credit score penalties for players affected by the disaster.

Ordinarily, being disconnected during a match leads to an automatic deduction in a player’s credit score, with the system assuming the player went AFK. But this time, MLBB recognized that the sudden disconnections weren’t due to negligence or poor sportsmanship—it was because of a natural disaster.

In a notice sent to players, MLBB said it has returned the deducted credit scores and even sent small gifts as a token of goodwill. The message emphasized that the health and safety of players remain the game’s top priority, acknowledging that such circumstances are beyond anyone’s control.

On social media, a player from Cebu shared his experience:

“I want to show my appreciation to MLBB moderators kasi binalik nila yung deducted points ko because of force majeure events. Naglalaro kasi ako ng ML at habang nasa kasagsagan ng  mid-game kagabi ay biglang lumindol nang malakas sa amin. Lumabas ako ng game to alert my family para makalabas,” wrote Koa Radamant on an MLBB group on Facebook.

“This may be a small gesture pero yung part na the game itself knows what is happening to you and cares about it (kahit na wala na ang compensation) is enough proof that MLBB is building more than just a community of gamers for profit alone,” he added.

This is the first time MLBB has rolled out a special compensation for force majeure events in the Philippines, setting a precedent for how the game responds to real-world crises that directly affect its community. It’s a move that shows MLBB isn’t just about competitive matches and leaderboards but also about understanding the real lives behind its players.
