Jake Gaspay signs one-year deal with Caloocan in MPBL move

Jake Gaspay, the former CSB Blazer in the NCAA, has signed a one-year deal with the Caloocan Batang Kankaloo of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).

The move was confirmed by his manager, Anthony Brodett of Phenom Sports Management, and marks Gaspay’s transition from collegiate standout to the semi-professional ranks in one of the country’s most competitive regional leagues.

The Caloocan Batang Kankaloo, also known at times as the Caloocan Supremos, represent Caloocan City in the MPBL’s North Division.

The Caloocan franchise has also competed in the Pilipinas Super League (PSL), where it claimed a President’s Cup title in the 2024–25 season, underscoring its commitment to success across multiple regional circuits.

For Gaspay, joining Caloocan represents a new chapter after a brief collegiate and amateur career in the NCAA. At 23 years old and standing 6-foot-4, he has been recognized for his versatile game and ability to contribute in multiple facets on the floor, often playing as a forward who can rebound, defend, and create opportunities.

Before turning to the MPBL, Gaspay’s journey included time with Immaculada Concepcion College where he made highlight plays and built early buzz, a transfer to De La Salle University that drew attention in national college basketball circles, and a subsequent move to the College of St. Benilde where he competed in NCAA competition and positioned himself as a prospect.

The signing with Caloocan gives Gaspay a platform to showcase his skills against a wide range of seasoned professionals as he looks to make an impact in the MPBL. His blend of size, mobility, and experience across multiple competitive environments should help him adapt to the rigors of the league and provide his new teammates with a versatile option in key games.
