Will Edward Return in MPL PH Season 18?

“Kuya, may sixth seed ba na nakapag-champion sa MPL?” Edward Dapadap

I was caught off guard not by the question but by who was asking it. It was during the 5th Week of the Regular Season, and Aurora had just lost to TNC. By the week’s standings, Aurora was hovering somewhere in the lower standings of the league. 

“Hindi ko alam, eh! Wala pa, sa pagkakaalam ko,” I told Edward. 

His face sank. 

He closed his eyes in frustration and raised his arms behind his head. 

That day, I terminated my interview with Edward when I saw that he was too sad to answer questions properly. So I just briefly talked to him to see if he was okay. 

His chief insecurity spilled out. “May sixth seed ba na nakapagchampion sa MPL?” 

He sounded desparate but hopeful. But ambition was tempered by reality.

Six weeks later on opening day of MPL Philippines Season 17 Playoffs, ONIC PH eliminated Aurora Gaming PH, ending the defending world champions’ bid to secure a ticket to Paris’ and the Esports World Cup. 

We returned to Edward, who remained sullen. 

“I just have one question for you, Edward. I also asked this question to Renejay after he played his last game with Aurora.”

He opened his eyes. 

“Anong sinabi ni Renejay noong tinanong mo siya niyan?” Edward asked. 

“Sabi ni Renejay, ‘we’ll see’ dahil 50-50 pa siya sa decision niya. He ended up retiring. Ngayon naman, anong isasagot mo sa akin?”

“We’ll see,” said Edward. 

Will Edward Dapadap return to MPL Philippines Season 18?
