Jeremy Lin on Facing the Philippines’ Best
Jeremy Lin recollects his nearly 15-year professional career, going head-to-head with the Philippines’ premier cagers during their East Asia Super League (EASL) matchups. Despite sitting out their bouts against the Meralco Bolts, he speaks on their “different” approach, emphasizing import production.
“But what I’ve noticed from the PBA teams is the imports have a lot of…like, you have to worry about the imports,” he mentioned.
“You’ll see players averaging 30 points, almost 40 points sometimes. In other leagues, that’s virtually, you’ll never see something close to that. Maybe 25 points, but even averaging 20 is already a lot. It’s a different style,” he added.
With stints in the NBA, CBA, and P. League+, the 36-year-old veteran finds the import-centric offense distinct but remains excited when facing the PBA or the best any nation has to offer.
He continued, “I’m good with any team in the PBA. It’s just good to have that exposure and also to be able to play. That’s one thing I miss, I wish we got to play in the Philippines this year because the love for the game for basketball is amazing out there, and the fans are awesome.”
