Mark Belmonte Commits to Letran After Weighing NCAA Offers
Mark Belmonte confirmed that he has committed to Colegio de San Juan de Letran, bringing his game to the Letran Knights program after his stint in the UAAP.
His final decision came down to San Beda University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, and De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde, though nearly every NCAA school expressed interest once it became clear he was exploring his options. In the end, Letran felt like the right fit.
Belmonte previously suited up for the UP Fighting Maroons in the UAAP, where he showed flashes of his potential as a versatile forward. With his length and mobility, he carved out some minutes in a deep rotation and delivered performances that hinted at his upside.
Before college, Belmonte built a reputation as a promising wing with size who could defend multiple positions and stretch the floor. Those tools made him an intriguing long-term prospect. His move to the NCAA signals a desire for a fresh start and an opportunity to expand his role in a new environment.
The Knights remain one of the league’s most decorated programs and captured back-to-back championships earlier in the 2020s. Even in seasons where they fell short of the title, Letran has consistently stayed in the playoff mix, maintaining a reputation for physical defense and a disciplined system under head coach Allen Ricardo.
