Mark Sarza Transfers to Mapua after breakout UCAL Title Run

Mark Jade Sarza is opening a new chapter in his collegiate career.

Sarza has transferred to the Mapua Cardinals in the NCAA, his agent Anthony Brodett of Phenom Sports Management confirmed. The former Centro Escolar University forward will serve one year of residency before becoming eligible to play for Mapua, where he is expected to have three years of NCAA eligibility remaining.

The move gives the Cardinals another young piece with recent championship experience. Sarza is coming off a strong campaign with CEU, helping the Scorpions capture the UCAL men’s basketball championship.

Sarza delivered one of his best performances in the title-clinching game against Olivarez College, finishing with 25 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. That effort earned him Finals Most Valuable Player honors as CEU completed a sweep of the championship series.

His postseason run also included a 24-point, 11-rebound outing in CEU’s semifinal-clinching win over LPU-Batangas, a performance that helped send the Scorpions back to the UCAL finals.

Sarza had also shown his scoring punch earlier in the season. In CEU’s win over Olivarez that secured the top seed, he finished with 17 points and helped set the tone with a hot first quarter that included back-to-back three-pointers.

The transfer to Mapua marks Sarza’s move to a bigger collegiate stage after building momentum in UCAL. His size, scoring ability, and rebounding should give the Cardinals another developing option once he completes his residency.

Before his CEU stint, Sarza was also part of Adamson’s high school program, giving him previous exposure to major school-based competition.

His immediate role will have to wait, but his recent form suggests he could become a useful piece for the Cardinals once cleared to play.
