How Mobile Legends Changed the Lives of Team Liquid PH’s Players

They were counting on winning the MSC 2024 because they wanted to attain the missing piece for the team. Team Liquid Philippines (formerly ECHO) has never won a title in the Mid Season Cup or MSC. This year’s top prize for the winning team is one million dollars or P58 million, the largest prize in the history of MLBB esports. But Falcons AP BREN proved they were the much better team when they faced each other during the Knockout Stage of the tournament.

Although their MSC dream was ended, their dreams for their family and loved ones will never be doused.

“Mahalaga sa akin yung prize kasi may sarili na akong family, and as a man, gusto ko talaga na ako ang nagpo-provide sa lahat ng needs and wants nila, especially ng sa daughter ko,” gold laner Benedict “BennyQt” Gonzales said during the MSC media day. “Tumaas yung confidence ko even outside the game.

(“The prize is important to me because I already have my own family, and as a man, I really want to be the one to provide for the needs and wants of my family, especially of my daughter. My confidence was boosted even outside the game. Because of MLBB, I can now buy things I want. I also met new friends. I was inspired to name my daughter after my favorite hero, Wanwan.”)

For Exp Laner Sanford Vinuya, it’s all about supporting his family as the lone breadwinner and winning more international titles for his team.

“Ito po yung missing piece namin as a team and as a player po para sa akin.

(“This is our missing piece as a team and as a player for me. I really want to get all the international trophies. And because of ML, I was able to buy land. ML really helped me with my father’s medical treatment. I can also buy the things I want. I have also been able to go to other countries for free.”)

Alston Pabico, aka Sanji, wants to foster future champions, starting in his little computer shop.

(“I want to win the MSC so I can provide for the needs of my family and start a new business. Because of Mobile Legends, I was able to buy a Toyota Innova and set up my first computer shop. You’ll never know, the next Sanji could be playing right now in my computer shop.”)

Jaypee Dela Cruz, roamer of Team Liquid PH, was supposed to represent the Philippines in the MSC in 2020 because his team, Sunsparks, won the MPL-PH in Season 4. But the international tournament was canceled because of the pandemic. It is his first time to experience the MSC this year.

(“The last time we qualified, the MSC was canceled because of the pandemic. Now that we are back in the MSC, I want us to be champions and win the top prize.”)

For MLBB legend Karl Nepomuceno, aka KarlTzy, family is his top priority.

(“We’re not a wealthy family, so I help by sending my sister to school. MLBB changed my life financially. Now, whenever I go out of the house or spend time at the mall, there are many fans who ask for a picture with me.”)

(I am now able to provide for the needs of my family, and because of MLBB, I am now a homeowner.)

Although Team Liquid Philippines failed to secure the top prize worth P58 million, they are still walking away with a decent pocket of P11 million, still one of the largest prizes the team has won.
