UE’s John Abate Out with Back, Nose Injuries; Return Unsure

The UE Red Warriors are expected to be without key player and veteran John Abate for the foreseeable future as he deals with back spasms and a nose injury, sources have told me.

Abate, who’s in his final playing season in the UAAP, will miss the Red Warriors’ contest against the UP Fighting Maroons on Saturday, November 8. It is uncertain when and if he can return this UAAP season, as UE only has four games left on their schedule.

Abate, who currently ranks eighth in the UAAP men’s basketball MVP race, is averaging 16.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists a contest.

This development comes as a big blow to the Red Warriors, who remain winless through 10 games this UAAP season.
