A Look Into the Chicago Bulls x Abakada Collaboration

The Chicago Bulls acquired the creative expertise of the Windy City-based Kapampangan duo, Abakada, ushering a limited edition crewneck with elements from the legendary ‘90s dynasty. The piece was exclusively available on the Bulls application during their February 8, 2025, matchup against the Golden State Warriors.

As part of the franchise’s “Bulls Drops” sweepstakes, the Chicago Bulls x Abakada piece sports joint branding on the front and the rear, alongside a reimagination of a newly migrated Filipino family in Chicago. Accompanying the rise of the Jordan-led squad, the graphic comprises pennants, posters, Starting Lineup action figures, VHS tapes, and other essentials as a first-hand witness of the iconic ‘98 last dance campaign.

Filipino graphic designer Jethro Olba (Antibiotic Smile) spoke about partnering with Abakada and the process behind the design. 27 years since the legendary run, he captured the Filipinos’ undying passion for their Chicago heroes, regardless of who dons the iconic red-white-and-black threads.

“The Filipino community continues to rally behind their home team, celebrating the Bulls’ legacy with pride and devotion. That’s deep. That’s a connection,” Olba mentions in an Instagram post.

“It’s exactly what Abakada stands for—celebrating Filipino culture and talent while fearlessly pursuing our aspirations,” he adds.

The Chicago Bulls x Abakada collaboration was released via the Chicago Bulls application last February 8, 2025. There is no confirmation of a restock as of writing.
