Fantasy Series #12: The Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic’s core has pretty much remained intact this offseason. This year, can they make it out of the first round of the playoffs?

The Fantasy series looks at the featured team’s season statistical performance and explores offseason possibilities.

2025-2026 Key Season Stats

Paolo Banchero – 22.2 points per game, 8.4 rebounds per game, 5.2 assists per game, 1.1 steals per game

Desmond Bane – 20.1 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game, 4.1 assists per game

Franz Wagner – 20.6 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game, 3.3 assists per game

The Orlando Magic took the Detroit Pistons into a grueling, 7-game first-round series last season, only to come up short towards the end. They actually blew a 3-1 series lead after injuries hit the roster.

Undoubtedly, this is Paolo Banchero’s team. Franz Wagner and Desmond Bane are more than willing to be his running mates. Jalen Suggs, Anthony Black, and Wendell Carter Jr. are also key contributors. Over the offseason, the only addition was big man Nikola Vucevic, who is making his hometown return.

This team is expensive, and the fans are expecting this roster to deliver. The competition in the eastern conference has gotten tougher–the Philadelphia 76ers, the Miami Heat, and the New York Knicks are legitimate contenders. Teams hoping to make a comeback, such as the Boston Celtics, the Detroit Pistons, the Indiana Pacers, and the Cleveland Cavaliers are posing a threat to the Magic’s hopes.

Paolo Banchero has to find another gear to compete with other franchise players–he has to average close to 30. When it mattered, he scored 45 against the Pistons in a playoff game. Can he find that gear that will take his team over the top?
