Alas Women Sweep Hong Kong to Claim Ninth Place in 20th Asian Games

Alas Pilipinas Women wrapped up their 2026 Asian Games campaign with a ninth-place finish after defeating Hong Kong in straight sets, 25-21, 25-9, 30-28, on Tuesday at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium in Japan.

The Philippines appeared headed for a routine sweep after dominating the first two sets, but Hong Kong mounted a late challenge in the third.

With Alas trailing 27-28 in the deciding third set, Bella Belen delivered when it mattered most, scoring three consecutive points to complete the comeback and seal the straight-set victory.

Belen led the Philippines’ scoring effort with 18 points, tallying 16 attacks, one block, and one ace, while Angel Canino added 17 points on 15 attacks and two blocks.

The win capped a strong finish for Alas, who went winless in the group stage before stringing together three straight victories in the classification round.

The Philippines finished ninth in the 14-team women’s volleyball tournament, while Hong Kong ended its campaign in 10th place.
