Tamayo Adds to His Rings as LG Avoids 0-3 KBL Finals Collapse
Wherever Carl Tamayo goes, he wins championships. That’s what he does.
Tamayo helped the LG Sakers prevent a 0-3 collapse in the KBL Finals as they defeated the SK Knights in Game 7 of the KBL Finals, 62-58, on Saturday, May 17.
He had 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists with four players from his team scoring in double figures. Tamayo was pivotal early in the series when LG took a 3-0 lead.
Juan Gomez De Liaño, another Filipino baller, was lined-up for SK.
Tamayo won two titles with the NU Bullpups in Seasons 81-82 before helping the UP Maroons end a 36-year title drought in UAAP Season 84.
Though he got spare playing time, Tamayo was part of Ryuku’s roster which won the B. League championship in Japan in 2023. He then signed with LG and just helped them win their first KBL championship in 28 years.
At only 24 years old, Tamayo has time to add to what’s already an impressive resume.
