Cole Cruz-Dumont joins brothers Jack, Hunter at UE

Another Cruz-Dumont brother is set to join the UE Red Warriors as Cole, the younger sibling of Jack and Hunter, have joined head coach Jack Santiago’s varsity team, he confirmed to ALL-STAR Magazine.

Cole is a 6-foot-3 guard who last played for the Western Mustangs in Canada. The Richmond, BC native will sit out one season of eligibility as a transferee and can make his debut in UAAP Season 88, which will mark the first of his two remaining years of eligibility.

Cruz-Dumont played 20 games with the Mustangs in their 2023-2024 campaign, putting up 13.6 points and 1.8 rebounds a contest on 46% shooting from the field and 35% shooting from downtown.

Eldest brother Jack had an outstanding first campaign with UE in Season 86, shooting up as one of the team’s go-to playmakers. He has one season of eligibility left in 2024, then he will be succeeded by Cole. Hunter, the middle child, has recovered from a Liz Frank foot injury and is expected to play his first of three eligible years in Season 87.

In addition to Cruz-Dumont, Santiago also confirmed that UE has recruited collegiate rookies Romo Finney, a 6-foot guard from Sacramento, and John Jimenez, a 6-foot-5 big from Arellano’s high school program.

UE recently won tune-up games against St. Claire and Arellano’s collegiate programs. They have another match coming up soon against UPHSD. Guard Gjerard Wilson, whose Season 86 campaign was cut short by a shoulder injury, is back in the Philippines preparing for his final UAAP stint with UE this year.
