The De La Salle Green Archers’ impressive offseason continued as they defeated Korea University 101-86 in the final of the World University Basketball Series on Monday, August 12.
KU put up a good fight but DLSU’s early fourth quarter onslaught provided the reigning UAAP champs the runway to secure the victory. La Salle swept their three games, previously defeating Perbinas Institute (Indonesia) and reigning WUBS champion NCCU (Taiwan) to make the finals.
Henry Agunanne had his most impressive performance in a green and white jersey while Michael Phillips feasted in the paint. Korea University had no answer for DLSU’s rebounding prowess and interior presence.
La Salle’s offseason tour included winning the WUBS, PBA D-League, and Pinoyliga tournament, while also coming in second place in the Filoil and Kadayawan tournaments.
The Green Archers begin their UAAP title defense when the season tips off on September 7.
