EJ Gollena Commits to JRU Heavy Bombers
Former De La Salle University wingman EJ Gollena has committed to continue his collegiate basketball career with the JRU Heavy Bombers, a source told me.
The 6-foot-3 Gollena will first serve the required residency period before having two remaining seasons of playing eligibility in the NCAA.
Gollena recently parted ways with La Salle following three UAAP campaigns in which he developed from a reserve into a dependable member of the Green Archers’ rotation.
He was part of La Salle’s UAAP Season 86 and Season 88 men’s basketball championship teams, while also helping the school capture the Season 87 and Season 88 men’s 3×3 titles.
Gollena produced 5.3 points and 2.7 rebounds during his final season, providing the Green Archers with energy, perimeter defense, and timely outside shooting. He is expected to put up larger numbers as a veteran in the NCAA, joining another recent departure from DLSU, Rhyle Melencio.
The Las Piñas native attended Augustinian Abbey School before enrolling at Lyceum of the Philippines University. He later emerged through Phenom Championship Clinic and eventually transferred to La Salle, where he served residency before making his UAAP debut.
Gollena now heads to JRU looking for an expanded role and an opportunity to make the most of his final two collegiate seasons once he becomes eligible to suit up for the Heavy Bombers.
