The UP Fighting Maroons may have just found the final piece for its championship-contending roster.
According to sources monitoring the situation, one-and-done Filipino-American prospect Quentin Millora-Brown plans to commit to the UAAP powerhouse. He is expected to arrive in the Philippines and begin training with the Fighting Maroons this weekend.
Millora-Brown stands at 6-foot-10 when measured without shoes. An agile big man with a soft touch in the paint, his towering presence adds depth to UP’s loaded frontline and bolsters the team’s bid to make a fourth straight final appearance in order to win a second UAAP men’s basketball title in the last three years.
Born to a Filipina mother and American father, Millora-Brown has family ties to State U which led to this partnership. His grandfather was a product of UP-Philippine General Hospital (PGH), paving the way for a connection between both sides. The management team of the Fighting Maroons have worked on building their relationship with the Millora-Brown family since the pandemic in case he would eventually be open to playing in the Philippines.
Millora-Brown started his US NCAA career with Rice, played three seasons with Vanderbilt, then spent last season with the Citadel Bulldogs. He averaged 11.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 59% FG in 32.4 minutes per contest. Because his first season with Vanderbilt took place during the outbreak of the Covid pandemic, it did not count as one of his NCAA playing years of eligibility, making him eligible for UAAP Season 87 as a master’s student.
Following his UAAP campaign, the Lorton, VA native is expected to join the PBA Draft in 2025 where he will contend for the top overall pick.
The Fighting Maroons went undefeated in both Pinoyliga and Filoil during the preseason, defeating defending UAAP champion La Salle in the latter tournament’s finals. UP also went undefeated in seven games against club teams from Serbia during their recent trip and will fly to Korea towards the end of July to continue their off-season training.
