Gilas Dominates Hong Kong-China, Nears FIBA Asia Berth

Gilas Pilipinas swept their two games at home in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers after defeating Hong Kong, China, 93-54, in front of a packed crowd at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday, November 24.

Coming in as heavy favorites, Gilas didn’t waste time building an early lead against the visiting squad thanks to the towering presence of Kai Sotto and June Mar Fajardo.

Both standouts dominated Hong Kong, China’s smaller frontline, and established a cushion that kept growing as the game went on.

A win by New Zealand over Chinese Taipei on Sunday would clinch a spot for the Philippines in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup to be held in Saudi Arabia.
