La Salle’s Benjamin Phillips joins PBA Draft

Former De La Salle Green Archers captain and UAAP men’s basketball champion Benjamin Phillips has confirmed his intention to join the 2024 PBA Draft to ALL-STAR Magazine.

The 6-foot-6 Phillips, who also played for La Salle’s men’s volleyball team, has filled out his application form that will be submitted by his representation, Espiritu-Manotoc Basketball Management, to the league office.

The Ohio, USA native expressed his excitement and explained his decision-making process in detail during an episode of The Navs Effect podcast on Playback.

Phillips, who is currently in his hometown, played three seasons for the Green Archers from Seasons 84-86, making the Final Four twice and winning a title in 2023.

Although La Salle had a deep rotation of big men in its roster, the eldest of the Phillips Brothers trio earned his coaches trust with commendable work ethic and by being a trusted leader of men in DLSU’s locker room.

On the court Phillips displayed the ability to spread the floor as a big man and change the game’s flow with his timely rebounding, energetic hustle plays, defensive acumen, and athletic prowess.

Due to his mix of size and ability, Phillips has the profile of a standout who will shine as a key rotation piece in the professional level.

The academic achiever will also be a great ambassador for the PBA franchise that will select him in the draft in the middle of July.

Off the court, Phillips is the chief operating officer of The Business Hospital, an innovative organization that approaches business management with the same level of care and expertise as a medical hospital treats its patients. In the past he published his first book, Lone Wolf Mentality: A Millenial Mindset

Benjamin’s younger brothers Michael and Isaiah are still at DLSU with two playing seasons of eligibility left. Both student-athletes have expressed their desire to play out their remaining years of eligibility as Green Archers.
