The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters are trading second-round pick Miguel Corteza to the Blackwater Bossing, ALL-STAR Magazine has learned.
Corteza, who was taken 20th overall in the 2024 PBA Draft, is set to join head coach Jeff Cariaso’s PBA squad along with other newcomers Sedrick Barefield and DJ Mitchell.
“We looked for a bigger wing we felt that could defend. We like his activity and physicality. We’ll try him out more and give him a real good look,” Cariaso said about his team’s decision to acquire the former CSB Blazer.
In return Blackwater is sending Rain or Shine a second-round pick in the 2026 PBA Draft. The deal is pending league approval.
Corteza was instrumental in helping lead CSB to the NCAA men’s basketball finals in 2022 and a Final Four appearance last year both on and off the court.
He also spent time with the Marikina Shoemakers in the MPBL.
